Creative Writing Summer School
4 Tuesdays 11th June - 2nd July 2012 7.30-9.30pm
Back by popular demand - Story Scavenger's unique - art inspired sessions - designed to get you feeling creative for the summer season.
These inspiring and experimental creative writing sessions, will encourage you to play with language and explore new ways of writing. Each week we’ll focus on the techniques developed by famous writing or art movements to generate lots of ideas for poems and stories.
WEEK ONE: We’ll be taking a trip into Surrealism, collaging words and pictures to generate narratives and poetic imagery.
WEEK TWO: We’ll be emulating the assemblage artists and trawling the streets for found objects or bringing some from home – putting them in a box and creating story and poem treasure chests, where each object tells its own tale.
WEEK THREE: We’ll be following in the footsteps of the Beat generation, and cutting up and folding out old books, magazines and flyers to create new and unexpected combinations.
WEEK FOUR: Time for a mini story scavenger hunt! With your mission (creative writing exercise) in a sealed envelope - you'll be sent to a location in Brighton to gather material for a story.
Our base for the sessions is the amazing art studio of DRAW Brighton in the creative arts hub of New England House - very close to Brighton Station.
Want to book? The full price of the 4 sessions is £50 - but if you book before May 20th you'll get an early bird discount of 10% - you pay £45.
Refunds and Cancellations
You will receive a full refund if you cancel a course more than six days before it starts. If you make a cancellation less than seven days before the start of a course we will not be able to offer you a refund or transfer you to another course. This is a standard policy across Adult Education – and in line with the policies of City College, The Friends Centre and Evolution for example.
Cancellation of courses
On rare occasions we have to cancel under-subscribed course. As we often get late bookings any such decision is made as late as possible. If, however, we do have to cancel, we will give those booked two days notice by phone and a full refund.
