About this event

‘Let there be light’ is a motto inscribed on many Carnegie libraries. This three-part series of creative writing workshops will explore the many ways that libraries transform and illuminate our lives.

We will think about how books shape us, and how we shape them. We’ll also reflect on how the National Library of Scotland was transformed from stone and wood and sand into staircases and bookshelves and great windows, that allow light to fall on our past, our present, and our future.

You can attend one or more of the workshops. Each one will have a different focus and writing prompts. The sessions will be led by writer Lynn Davidson and are open to everyone interested in developing their writing skills.

Dates

These workshops will be taking place on the following dates:

  • 1 October
  • 4 November
  • 2 December

Please ensure you book a ticket for each workshop you would like to attend.

About the workshop leader

Lynn Davidson is a published poet and essayist. She has a PhD in poetry, exploring the territory that poetic repetition opens in a poem. Her passion is to explore through poetry our place in nature, and the magic, reach and mysteries of language.
