Intensive creative writing session for budding writers

About this Event

At this intensive creative writing session, author Emma Heatherington will guide budding writers through various brain storming exercises and cover the following topics:

How to get started - the dread and challenge of the empty page!

Why do we write? - The healing and therapeutic side of creative writing

Character Development - how to create believable characters for your story

Plot Planning - beginning, middle and end

Writing Dialogue - bringing your stories to life

The Editing Process - 'kill your darlings'

Genre, style and finding your 'voice'

The Publishing Industry - the business side of writing

The session, which includes a light lunch, also aims to answer all your questions on your own path to publication and hopes to leave you inspired and equipped to write creatively and confidently.

Emma Heatherington has penned eleven novels, two of which were written under the pseudonym Emma Louise Jordan (for Poolbeg Press).

She is currently signed with global publishing giants HarperFiction (HarperCollins).

Emma was ghost-writer to Irish country music legend Philomena Begley (The O'Brien Press) and Liverpool born Nathan Carter, whose autobiography Born for the Road (Penguin Ireland) was nominated for an Irish Book Award.

Her novel, The Legacy of Lucy Harte was an eBook bestseller in both the UK and US and was also published in Germany and Holland. Emma's latest novel, Rewrite the Stars (HarperFiction), will be released on paperback October 17th and is now available in e book format from all usual outlets.

Emma has also written musicals, educational short plays, songs and a poem she wrote entitled 'Sailing in Diversity' was presented to President Michael D Higgins by the Institute of Technology UNESCO project in Tralee, Co Kerry.
