Description

A creative writing workshop inspired by Falmouth Art Gallery’s current exhibition: ‘The World As Yet Unseen – Women Artists in Conversation with Partou Zia’.

Ella Frears is a poet and visual artist based in London. She’s had poems in the LRB, Poetry London, Ambit, and The Rialto among others and was a finalist for the Arts Foundation Fellowship in Poetry. She’s completed residencies for the National Trust, Tate Britain, K6 Gallery and Royal Holloway University. Her poems inspired by the St Ives modernists are currently on show at Tate St.Ives.

Joanna Kavenna grew up in various parts of Britain, and has also lived in the USA, France, Germany, Sri Lanka, Scandinavia and the Baltic States. She is the author of several works of fiction and non-fiction including The Ice Museum, Inglorious, The Birth of Love, Come to the Edge, A Field Guide to Reality and Zed. In 2008 she won the Orange Prize for New Writing. Her work has appeared in the New Yorker, the London Review of Books, the Guardian and Observer, the Times Literary Supplement, the International Herald Tribune, the Spectator and the Telegraph, among other publications. Kavenna has held writing fellowships at St Antony's College, Oxford and St John's College, Cambridge. In 2013 she was named as one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists.

The workshop will be split into two sessions followed by a Q&A:
