Writing workshops to unleash your creativity

About this event

During lockdown Clare Reddaway took her regular Bath and Bristol based writing workshops onto Zoom. After months of constructive and inspiring workshops, she has now scheduled three 'back-to-basics' skils workshops to brush up some of the key elements of writing.

'A brilliant environment for learning and sharing'

The workshops will run for two and a half hours. We will meet online on Zoom. Details of the zoom meeting will be sent to you prior to the workshop.

'Loved it - loved it all!'

21st May: Character

We all know that characters are the core of good stories. It's characters that readers love - or love to hate. In this workshop we'll explore how to create complex, three dimensional characters. We'll have exercises that are useful both for new characters or to deepen the ones that are already in your head.

11th June: Dialogue

Writers are often nervous of dialogue. However writing good dialogue can lift your text and give your characters and your story life, reality and sparkle. In this workshop we will explore some techniques to make your dialogue leap off the page.

9th July: Story

Does your story fall flat at the end? Does it sag in the middle? Does it waffle on at the beginning? In this workshop we will look at the structure of story and how to whip your tale into shape.

Each workshop costs £12. You can book each workshop individually. Each workshop can be treated as a standalone experience.

About the workshops:

Clare Reddaway has been running monthly writing workshops at her home in central Bath for some years - and since March 2020 runs frequent workshops online. All of the workshops aim to be supportive and encouraging to writers of prose, particularly short stories, at all levels. Clare provides exercises which are stimulating and inspiring (hopefully!) in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
