Event description
Come and learn about the craft of Monologue and write your own performance piece

About this Event

A monologue is a performance by a single actor - sometimes as part of a play (Shakespeare was very fond of them) or sometimes it IS the play. We'll explore the different approaches to monologue and then get down to writing one.

Don’t worry if you’ve never tried writing drama or poetry, or even any sort of writing before, if you like telling stories these workshops are for you.

Kate Saffin has been writing solo plays based on stories from the waterways since 2000, performing at waterside venues, the Edinburgh fringe, and canal festivals. She has an MFA from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in writing for stage and broadcast media.

The workshop will be via Zoom so you will need a computer with speakers and internet connection. Your computer or laptop should have either a built-in camera and microphone or a webcam so that everyone can see and hear everyone else. A web link will be sent to participants before the workshop. If you haven’t used Zoom before, you will need to download the software here https://zoom.us/support/download and we will make sure everyone is comfortable with it before we begin.

Please note this event has a limited capacity of 10 places – early booking recommended!

We offering our Spring 2021 workshops on a Pay What You Can basis. The minimum payment is £1 (£1.02 with the booking fee); after that the sky's the limit!
