#CreativeConnect with Glenna Morrison (Youth Drama Creative Practitioner)
Event Information
About this Event
Glasgow CAN's monthly #CreativeConnect sessions are designed to be an informal way to connect with other Participatory Artists and Organisations in Glasgow. Each month we bring on board a guest speaker who delivers a 20 minute talk at the event about their practice or organisation, giving you the opportunity to learn and ask questions. It's the perfect environment to connect with peers, meet new faces and strengthen your network and knowledge of what's happening in the world of Participatory Arts. You do not have to be a Glasgow CAN member to join in.
This month we are lucky to be joined by Glenna Morrison, a Creative Practitioner specialising in Youth Drama who has previously worked with Scottish Youth Theatre. Glenna is an expert in inspiring young people through Drama and Creative Arts. Glenna is a qualified early childhood educator who will give a short presentation on her experience leading youth arts by breaking it down into ages and stages. Covering Primary Drama, improvisation and role play, as well as high school devising methods, character work and Laban technique; Glenna will share her experience with extra curricular drama (hence not tied to the Curriculum for Excellence). Glenna will also discuss Drama in the time of Covid, accessing dramatic content without touch or props, freeing the imagination to create shared experiences and wonder in all age groups. Finally, she will explore what comes next for young people entering into a career in Acting; to train or not to train, agents, spotlight, auditions, preparation, self tapes and how to continue working as an actor.
"Drama and self expression is vital to our existence, development and mental health and has never been more so. The ability to share my knowledge of drama with children and young adults and pass on my tales of experiences in this rich and wonderful world will hopefully inspire others to create their own content and explore the possibilities that Drama can hold."
We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting event!
