Event description

Description

Join us for one or all of this series of expressive art workshops for adults, which include time for tea and talking as a group to share, reflect and discover. CreativiTEA art workshops take place in safe space for self-expression, with an experienced practitioner to support and guide the creative and expressive process.

Each workshop will focus on a different theme or topic, upcoming sessions are as follows:

15th October: Four Seasons / Four Moods

Whilst listening to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons as stimulating background music, we will be using a combination of mixed media, paint and found natural materials, to explore emotions and ideas that the different seasons may evoke, perhaps asking the questions: What do the seasons mean to me? How do I feel throughout the year? What events / rituals do I associate with them? We will be paying particular attention to colour and texture and will look at a selection of images from Land Artists who take inspiration from nature.

19th November: Shadow Opposites – Exploring our Dreams

Dreams can be viewed as aspects of the self. Sometimes we remember our dreams on waking, they may be repetitive, fragmented, appear as a sequence, are sometimes deemed nightmares or possibly prophetic. Dreams may be a way for us to decant / condense our conscious experiences which on recollection may seem morphed, odd and surreal. Using the tactile qualities of a range of art materials to produce mono-prints, relief art works and collages we will attempt to safely ‘bring alive’ our dreams and explore them together as a group.

17th December: Reminiscence through Imagery, Objects and Sense of Smell

In this workshop participants are invited to recall and reconnect with personal memories. Through looking at a series of images, handling objects and experiencing different smells to help stimulate and conjure memories - possibly of childhood, school, work and family life - we will visually express, through drawing and painting, a series of personal images. By exchanging stories and exploring art works with the group, participant’s may find there are some shared experiences and be further prompted to remember memories which have been forgotten.

21st January 2017: The Wandering and Still Mind

A series of Mindfulness exercises will provide an opportunity to connect to our breath and explore how / where we are locating feeling in our own bodies. In response to each exercise participants will be invited to produce a series of personal images, using a variety of graphic art materials. Following a guided visualisation through a colourful journey, we will explore personal interpretations evolving from this using paint.

18th February 2017: Talking Through Objects, Creating Fresh Dialogues

We will look at some key Artists who have used Box Art and Assemblage as a vehicle for self-expression and create our own box. You are the Director of your own story and perhaps you can re-construct yourself using objects as inspiration to reframe a new integrated you? Through selecting objects and images that symbolically represent different aspects of self we will assemble our ‘world within a world’.

18th March 2017: Exploring the Abstract

Through experimenting with of a range of art materials and trying different techniques we can arrive at unexpected places. Using frottage, collage, bricolage and wax resist along with finger paints, inks, watercolours and acrylics we have a rich palette to freely immerse ourselves in ‘playing’. Through ‘letting go’ and exploring marks on paper we will build up unique and personal abstract expressions.

15th April 2017: My World – Mapping Connections and Celebrating Diversity

Using a variety of graphic materials, coloured, tracing, tessellated and tissue papers together with found text and images we will be mapping our inner and outer journeys, looking at our position in life / possibly at work / within friendships and the family setting and asking ourselves the questions how we may have arrived at our current place in life, who we think we are and exploring our aspirations. Through our art work we will portray different aspects of our identity and exchange with others our life journey.
