Event description

Description

It's a Creativity for Wellbeing workshop - where you get to make things with your hands and talk about it too! Come to a workshop and connect with yourself and others, whilst exercising your artistic muscles at the same time. Art is such gentle yet deep way to connect with meaning in our lives. Your curiosity is a more important factor than any skill in order to benefit from spending this time in nature and in playing with art materials. Being joined in fellowship on this artistic journey can be a delight for those who otherwise engage in often quite solitary practices (eg. drawing, collage, textile art, photography and mixed media).

The group will be guided to co-create a workshop which complements the needs of the participants. Each workshop takes a different shape; the emphasis is as likely to be on our relaxation, reflection and sharing as it is on artistic production.

Attendees are invited to bring along any personal art projects that they would like to further explore and/or share. However, you are welcome to bring nothing but yourself, and a willingness to participate! All materials will be provided, including pencils, paints, collage, clay, and more.

I am inspired to hold space for twenty first century amateur artists. A Creativity for Wellbeing workshop is a cousin to the practice of dasti yoga; the weaving of the world is a pursuit that reaches far beyond the professional artistic disciplines into the heart of many a creative individual.

ABOUT CREATIVITY FOR WELLBEING

It is now a year since the first of these, now quarterly, workshops took place. These have evolved to make more use of the garden and work towards increasing levels of collaboration. This year sees a new phase of integration; joining up with work done outside of the workshops, as well as incorporating more elements of co-creation so that we might inspire our collectivity and increase our capacity to work and play joyfully together.

THE BENEFITS

At best, we might experience together our roots, our boundaries and our connections; that we may sink into integration of an experience of grounded awareness, and that we may take away a renewed sense of ourselves and our world as something unique and cherishable.

How powerful is that? It’s enough to change the world! Hope to see you there!

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The Salisbury Centre is served by the 3, 5, 7, 8, 29, 31, 37, 47 and 49 Lothian buses. Metered on-street parking (except on Sundays, when it is free of charge) is available.

What can I bring into the event?

Feel free to bring any work/materials you would like to use or discuss with the group, but bear in mind this is NOT a requirement to attend! You may like to bring a camera to photograph your work, and please consider wearing durable shoes that are easy to remove, as we will be moving between the garden and the studio (where shoes are not permitted).

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Contact Lindsay with any questions at lindsaygibson77@gmail.com or on 0131 552 6522.
