Creativity & Imperfection Workshop
Sun 7 May 2017, 14:30 – 17:30 BST
How many of you feel like a fraud who is about to be found out?
That somehow you're managing to 'wing it' in your daily life but you're constantly falling short, while others seem to have it sussed? Are you guilty of the social media comparison ritual that leaves you feeling your life isn't as shiny and exciting as everyone else's? Do you love the idea of meditation but find it impossible to concentrate? Isn't it just tyranny to try and constantly 'think positively' or 'be happy'?
How about if we were all to voice the ways in which we believe we're not good enough? What about if we acknowledged our perceptions of inadequacy and embraced our fears - accepted them, even gave thanks for them? And then had an honest connection with those around us, in the solidarity of our imperfections. What if we could relax into letting the mask drop just a bit. Let the housework mount up, leave the to-do list untouched. This is a workshop about PERMISSION and CREATIVITY.
A safe, supportive place of honesty and compassion in which we can examine the beauty and universal nature of imperfection. And we stand to discover that the place of honesty, compassion and acceptance is available to us all, all of the time, and our imperfections are the key.
This 3 hour workshop will be run by Claire Bessent, a professional opera singer and therapeutic coach who is ready to voice a new narrative around perfection! In this workshop we'll explore the ways in which we judge, compare and condemn ourselves and look at ways to calm the inner critic. Our three hours will include peaceful breathwork, honest conversation, laughter, writing, meditation, movement and a final deep relaxation during which Claire will sing to soothe.
