Following recent events, the future of our next generation is even more uncertain and the opportunity to plug the ever widening digital skills gap, with young hungry talent, is becoming increasingly challenging.
In the UK we have traditionally been known as a creative nation, one that prides itself in its ability to develop innovation culture and engender an entrepreneurial spirit in its approach to business.
For this to build we have to focus on emerging technologies and digital skills and marry that with creativity. Enabling the next generation and encouraging an innovative mindset is what will continue to set us apart from the rest in the 21st Century.
There are major concerns that the educational system is not focusing on the future needs of the Cultural and Creative Industries and the broader needs for innovation and growth in the UK. There is a general agreement within the Cultural and Creative Industries and industry more broadly that the Government’s focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) should include the Arts (STEAM).
In this interactive workshop you will collectively discuss the current educational policies and explore what can be done to ensure the Arts based, creative, subjects are given due consideration to sit alongside STEM subjects in equal measures within our educational establishments.
