Event Details

CITB NI is providing a series of short seminars on a range of topical business issues. These seminars are being delivered by industry experts, giving attendees a detailed overview of the subject area and the practicalities of dealing with these issues in the construction industry.

In addition, CITB NI will provide a short overview of the services we provide to the construction industry and their benefits to employers.

Credit Control and Dealing with Difficult Customers

This session will provide attendees with an enhanced understanding of credit control.  You will also learn about why it’s important to include cost control in your business plan, how to control costs and do it better, under-pricing work and underestimating completion and the importance of a contract for debt recovery. 

Cyber Security, how to protect your Construction Business

Learn how to protect your construction business through technologies, processes and practices designed to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. Ensuring cyber security requires coordinated efforts throughout an information system.

Practical examples will include - checking for damaging email, how to ensure your machine is patched with Windows updates, anti-virus updates and simple tips for basic troubleshooting.

Speaker Profiles

Alastair Hughes is currently operating at a senior level within DECAL and is a Chartered Accountant. He has provided a wide range of training in the past on topics such as Managing through the Downturn, Finance and Credit Control. He has also been involved in delivery of similar training sessions for the CIOB Certificate and Diploma Courses.

Peter Hanna has had over 15 experience in the IT Support environment. Having worked for Coca-Cola, Almac and Capita he is now working for Leaf in Belfast. His role as their Operations Analyst involves meeting their customers regularly for support reviews and delivering Security Awareness Sessions. Peter advises on how clients can reduce the impact of a major attack.
