Event description

Description

Join Crick scientist Iris Salecker and artist Helen Pynor, to find out more about the science and artworks featured in the Transforming Connections zone in the current Deconstructing Patterns exhibition at the Francis Crick Institute.

Discover the intricate patterns and connections that form during the development of the visual system in the humble fruit fly, and hear how Helen immersed herself in the work of the Visual Circuit Assembly Laboratory to create an artistic response.

Crick Chats are relaxed and friendly evening events that bring you face-to-face with researchers working at the Francis Crick Institute and our partner organisations and collaborators.

Hear about their work, ask a burning question, or just enjoy a chat; Crick Chats are free and open to all. No knowledge of science is required.

FREE – booking required.

Deconstructing Patterns provides a glimpse into three intricate developmental patterns studied at the Crick, each one introduced by a unique artwork. In this context, deconstruction is a fundamentally creative process. By taking patterns apart, both the artists and scientists are seeking new insights into the puzzle of how the complexity of the human body arises.
