About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours

A mini-conference for artists, producers, venues and artistic allies to explore the dynamic history of the disability arts and rights movements, and a chance to learn from some of the most innovative and inclusive arts practitioners working in the UK today.

Join us for workshops and participatory sessions on inclusive devising and directing, including a demonstration of specialist DeafBlind devising techniques from Zarji Arts and drama games with FlawBored Theatre Company.

We’ll also be hosting a series of panels on the past, present and future of Disability Arts, looking at the incredible heritage we draw from, how we work now, and the kind of future we want to co-create as disabled artists and activists. Speakers to be announced.

We’re so excited to welcome our fellow arts industry workers to hang out together at the gorgeous Tara Theatre; let’s cross-pollinate, upskill and get excited about each other’s work!

Please note this event is 18+.

CRIPtic Arts exists to ignite disabled excellence across the arts

We provide active disabled leadership which advances world-class arts work with disabled creatives. From high-quality community activities to showcasing breakthrough performers; we’re blazing a revolution in accessibility.

We are a creatively courageous, accessibility-driven organisation, forging diverse disabled excellence, with community, ethics, and solidarity at the heart of our work.

When we talk about disabled people, we mean “people who face disableist [including audist] barriers”, or “people who identify themselves as deaf or disabled – or are identified by others as deaf or disabled in society”. We are also committed to supporting artists facing the highest barriers to opportunities, and/or whose access requirements are less likely to be met by other organisations.

In 2022, we were named as one of the 25 most influential disabled-led community organisations in the Disability Power 100.
