Event description

Description

Often, diversity debates in British theatre are restricted to the people on and around the stage: actors, writers, directors, designers, stage management, even the audience. But what about the critics? A wide range of theatre audiences will come when we have an equally wide range of people reviewing and writing about theatre. Critics of Colour hopes to be one small step in helping to make writing about theatre more accessible.

Organised by journalist Bridget Minamore, playwright Sabrina Mahfouz and arts producer Georgia Dodsworth, Critics of Colour are hosting Reviewing Theatre Workshop, on Saturday 28th April a FREE workshop that will give you the tools to further your own theatre journalism.

The workshop will be a space for people of colour who want to write about theatre to come together, learn from each other, and encourage one another. It is open to any and all people of colour who want to write about theatre, whether you have experience in the industry or not. We particularly want to welcome working class people colour, as well as people of colour with any interest in writing about opera and/or dance.

Reviewing Theatre Workshop is taking place at Platform Southwark, a wheelchair accessible venue in SE1. If you have any particular accessibility requirements, please email criticsofcolourcollective@gmail.com for more information.
