About this course

Module A - Prepare for Take-off!

This is a face-to-face course for Explorer Scout Young Leaders and DoE volunteers - you must be at least 13 and a half to attend, and working towards Young Leader Scheme or Duke of Edinburgh.

This module must be completed within 3 months of starting as a young leader

Module A aims to give you the essential information you'll need to perform your ESYL role safely. It will provide you with the immediate skills needed to assist another section, and to understand your role. You'll also discover how the Scheme works, and find out how to access further training opportunities.

Registration

Under initial section headed "Contact Information", enter the parent/carers name and email address and click the button marked: Register
On the next page, enter the name and details of the Young Leader attending the course .

What happens once you have booked

You will automatically receive an e-mail confirmation (containing details of what you have booked).

If you need to amend details or cancel the booking you can do so using the "view and manage your order online" link in your confirmation e-mail.

48 hours before the course is due to start, an automatic e-mail will be sent as a reminder.

On the day

Yopung Leaders need to wear uniform & neckerchief, and bring a pen and notebook.

Course location

This course is being held at Copley Scout Centre, St Ives. There is plenty of parking in the Leisure centre car park nearby.

Safeguarding

The courses will be presented in accordance to Scout HQ safety guidance.

There will always be two adults on the training team in the presentation room to ensure safeguarding by keeping young people safe.

Recording your attendance

Please bring your Young Leader Logbook for completion by the Training Team. If you do not have one you will be given one on the day.
