About this course

This is a face-to-face course for Explorer Scout Young Leaders and DoE volunteers - you must be at least 13 and a half to attend, and working towards Young Leader Scheme or Duke of Edinburgh. You must have already completed module A prior to signing up.

This is the full timetable for the weekend: - you can register for individual modules, just the Saturday (08:30-17:30), just the Sunday (09:00-16:00), or the full weekend which includes the option of sleeping over at Copley.

16:00 – 17:30 – Module D – Understanding Behaviour
18:00 – Dinner
19:00 – 20:00 – Mission Workshop

Sunday:

08:00 – 08:30 – Breakfast for those sleeping overnight
08:30 – 09:00 – arrival for those not staying overnight
09:00 – 10:30 – Module J – Communicate it!
10:30 – 12:00 – Module G – What is a high quality programme?
12:00 – 13:00 – Lunch
13:00 – 14:00 – Mission workshop
14:00 – 15:30 – Module H – Programme Planning
15:30 – 16:00 – Conclusion and awards
16:00 – Home time

Registration

Under initial section headed "Contact Information", enter the parent/carers name and email address and click the button marked: Register

On the next page, enter the name and details of the Young Leader attending the course.

Select the options the YL wishes to take over the weekend:

Attend the whole weekend with an option of sleeping over
Attend one of more modules

What happens once you have booked

You will automatically receive an e-mail confirmation (containing details of what you have booked).

If you need to amend details or cancel the booking you can do so using the "view and manage your order online" link in your confirmation e-mail.

48 hours before the course is due to start, an automatic e-mail will be sent as a reminder.

During the Course

Young Leaders will need to wear uniform & neckerchief, and bring a pen and notebook.

If you are staying for the whole weekend and sleeping over you will need to bring a sleeping bag, a roll mat, pillow(s), spare clothes, night wear and wash kit.

Food

Everyone who is attending on Saturday and staying over lunchtime will need to bring a packed lunch.
If you are attending on both days and sleeping over you will be provided with dinner on Saturday, plus Breakfast & lunch on Sunday - but you still need to bring a packed lunch for Saturday.
If you are attending on Saturday and Sunday but are NOT sleeping over, you will need a packed lunch each day.
If you are attending on Sunday only you will need a packed lunch.

Course location

This course is being held at Copley Scout Centre, St Ives. There is plenty of parking in the Leisure centre car park nearby.

Safeguarding

The courses will be presented in accordance to Scout HQ safety guidance.

There will always be two adults on the training team in the presentation room to ensure safeguarding by keeping young people safe.

Recording your attendance

Please bring your Young Leader Logbook for completion by the Training Team. If you do not have one you will be given one on the day.
