About this Event

Cross Border Network

Opportunities & Challenges of Leading a Cross Border Charity

Led by: James Jopling, Head of Scotland at the British Heart Foundation

Contributor: Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Scotland), Iain Stewart MP

This roundtable discussion will be led by James Jopling, Head of Scotland at the British Heart Foundation, who has a wealth of experience in UK wide working from leading charities such as Samaritans, Shelter and Cancer Research UK.

Come along to network, discuss and share with other leaders working across the UK.

Topics include:

  • Management and cross-border – structuring and managing resources in country for best effect.
  • Governance and cross-border – having a seat at the top table

The impact of the shifting political environment in Scotland is making cross border working more complex and challenging, and is likely to have implications for both small and large sector organisations working cross border.

This event continues to build on the ACOSVO Cross Border Network for voluntary sector leaders in Scottish voluntary organisations.

This event is open to voluntary sector leaders (members and non-members of ACOSVO) of Scottish voluntary organisations.

About James:

James Jopling is Head of Scotland at the British Heart Foundation and has worked at a senior level in a number of cross-border charities including as Executive Director for Scotland at Samaritans and Director for Scotland at Breakthrough Breast Cancer. He has worked in the sector for the past twenty-five years for a number of other charities such as Oxfam, Cancer Research UK, Shelter and Breast Cancer Now.
