Event description

Description

Climate change is happening faster than scientists anticipated, and more people than ever are concerned about the potential impact on our health, wellbeing and quality of life.

The UK Government has set a goal to become net carbon neutral by 2050, while Parliament and more than 200 local authorities have declared a climate emergency. Teams across government and the wider public sector are working on projects to mitigate risk, measure emissions and reduce pollution through regulation, policies and services.

At the ninth cross-government service design meetup in Newport, we will hear from people warning residents of flooding, developing clean air zones and bringing their council’s carbon emissions to net-zero.

Organised by Defra and GDS’s user-centred design team, the event will include presentations, hands-on exercises and discussions.

On the day

Lunch will not be provided, but there is a canteen and a shop on site which you are welcome to use from 11:30 onwards.

Please be aware that car parking is not available on site. There is a train station in Newport Centre nearby with public transport (bus and taxi) available.
