Crosthwaite's open gardens 2025: a village in bloom

Step into the enchanting world of Crosthwaite village this September for our spectacular open gardens event, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of our community and surrounding areas. On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, immerse yourself in a diverse collection of stunning gardens, ranging from intimate village plots to expansive two-acre landscapes.

Discover an incredible array of trees, shrubs, bushes, plants, and flowers from across the globe, alongside beautifully designed habitats and garden styles. Highlights include our award-winning school garden, a captivating church display, and a local orchard brimming with native species, as well as a huge range of spectacular gardens!

What to expect

Beyond the horticultural delights, your ticket grants you access to a host of other attractions:

Demonstrations and stalls: Witness traditional crafts like hedge laying and drystone walling on the school field, and explore informative stalls, including local beekeeping.
Food and drink: A wide variety of delicious food and refreshing drinks will be available for purchase in the school hall throughout the weekend.
Craft fair: On Saturday 20th September, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., browse a charming selection of craft stalls in the village hall.
Children's attractions: Bring the little ones along on Sunday 21st September for dedicated child-friendly attractions in the school grounds.
Plant sales: Take a piece of Crosthwaite home with you! A selection of plants will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.

Getting here and amenities

Enjoy free parking for the event, with a convenient minibus service to ferry guests between locations. For those who prefer to stroll, the main walking route connecting most of the gardens within the village is short and easily manageable. Toilets will be available at both the Church and Village Hall.
