The annual Inverness-based XpoNorth festival, until 2014 known as goNORTH, is Scotland's leading creative industries festival. A hot-bed of creative activity, XpoNorth takes place over two exciting and energising days and nights in the Highland capital of Inverness.

The only festival of its kind in Scotland covering crafts, fashion and textiles; writing and publishing; screen and broadcast; and music. XpoNorth is a unique event in the UK's cultural calendar and this year we have expanded our conference to include a robust training programme for all levels.

Crowdfunding has become very popular in the last three years as an alternative way to raise finance for new creative projects. But crowdfunding is about more than just raising essential funds! It’s about marketing and raising profile, about initiating new projects that were impossible to develop previously, and about reaching new audiendes. In the practical but strategic talk Patricia will show how crowdfunding works, the do’s and the don’ts, her own practical tips to create plan and promote a successful campaign, while sharing some great examples of how creative businesses have used crowdfunding to raise money.
