Who should attend?

Crown copyright subsists in material created by civil servants, ministers and government departments and agencies. Parliamentary copyright applies to work made by or under the direction or control of the House of Commons or the House of Lords. This intermediate course explores how different rules apply to Crown and Parliamentary copyright works.

This course is for anyone involved in the acquisition, collections management, creation, commissioning, use and sharing of Crown and or Parliamentary copyright works.

Learning Objectives:

• Discuss Crown and Parliamentary copyright definitions and how this has evolved. 
• Examine the scope of works protected, including War Artist Commissions. 
• Analyse the duration of Crown and Parliamentary copyright.  
• Interrogate the relationship between Crown copyright and Delegation of Authority. 
• Explore the extent of the Open Government Licence (OGL) and how it applies. 
• Discuss specific Crown material exempted from the OGL.
