Event description
Global Engineering Futures are hosting their next webinar in collaboration with The Cambridge Blockchain Society!

About this event

Blockchain technologies have rapidly gained traction in the media within the past years and months. Particularly cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) attract young investors and early tech adopters. While the news often reports about blockchain investments as speculative and mining as energy hungry, the technology behind it was created with the vision to free individuals from the traditional financial system.

The Cambridge Blockchain Society and the Global Engineering Futures Network are jointly hosting a panel discussion inviting experts from the field to shine light on applications and discuss pitfalls and chances blockchain technologies present for a transition into a sustainable future. We will also discuss how engineers can get involved in developing these technologies and with speakers highlighting the desired skillsets for those wanting to pursue this career.

Our expert panel include:

  • Will Lovell, Head of Future Technologies, Bank of England,
  • Lory Kehoe, Adjunct Assistant Professor in Technology Trends with Trinity College Dublin,
  • Julie Sigles Robert, Vice President and Sustainability Director of the Cambridge Blockchain Society,
  • David Gan, Founder and General Partner at OP Crypto.

Register today to hear insights from a spectacular lineup of speakers from organisations including the Bank of England, Trinity College Dublin, OP Cyrpto, and Cambridge Blockchain Society! Donations are optional for this event and will be used towards overhead costs of future events.

Global Engineering Futures is a non-profit with a network across the world whose mission is to champion engineers towards a sustainable future. The event is being led by our Global Engineering Network Europe Continental Team and open to all.
