Cryptocurrencies have been a hot topic for Jersey during the last couple of months and this debate aims to provide an update on the latest developments happening in this area.
We will be engaging with the finance sector to debate cryptocurrencies specificlally and fintech in general, as well as speaking to the wider business community and general public about the role of technology in the development of our economy with a view to:
• Clarifying the Jersey’s position on cryptocurrencies
• Promoting business opportunities
• Supporting Jersey’s economy
Issues that will be discussed:
• Update on the latest developments in cryptocurrencies sector Jersey
• The wider picture in respect of peer-to-peer business models and cryptocurrency regulation - is it needed?
• The impact of crypotcurrencies globally - is ‘do nothing’ an option for the finance sector?
Jon Day, COO at Moore Management Limited, an expert in the field of cryptocurrencies. Jon will provide a general update and insights on the latest developments in Jersey.
Mark Griffiths, CTO at CryptoComposite, digital designer and developer of next generation financial instruments. Mark will comment on why Bitcoin is a gateway to a blockchain enabled future.
Helen Hatton, Managing Director of Sator Regulatory Consulting Limited, former Deputy Director General of the JFSC. Helen will address regulation and use of digital currencies
Derek Nisbet, Venture Capitalist and Founder of Scotcoin. Derek will look at multi-signature functionality and bringing cryptocurrencies into the board room.
Will Day, Sustainability Advisor to PwC (London). He will consider the impact of global change and ask: “Is “do nothing” an option for the finance sector?”
