This full day course explores the links between CSA and homelessness, exploring issues around tenancy sustainment and cyclic homelessness.

About this event

Research has found that 4 in 10 young women who were homeless had become so due to sexual abuse. This course informs participants about the links between child sexual abuse and homelessness, exploring how the impacts of sexual abuse can contribute to difficulties in tenancy sustainment.

Participants will develop their understanding of child sexual abuse, the social context in which abuse occurs and will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of childhood sexual abuse on survivors.

The course will consider a gendered analysis of homelessness, and the concept of hidden homelessness. The key issues a survivor of CSA may face and how these may affect survivor’s ability to maintain tenancies/engage with wider services. are considered. The course offers space to discuss practical ways to support individuals to maintain their tenancy.

Who is this training for?

We are funded to provide cost free training to workers in a housing/homelessness context who may support survivors of sexual abuse within Scotland. Workers from other sectors are welcome however there will be cost attached for attendance.
