About this event
Children with Life-limiting Conditions - what do the data tell us?
Abstract
A vast amount of data is collected within our healthcare systems, but these data are often underutilised. Professor Fraser will present examples of studies where these data have been used to describe changes in prevalence and complexity of children with life-limiting conditions and the impact on their families. These examples will highlight the importance of key relationships between palliative care and other specialities such as intensive care and general practice. Examples of how these data have been used to inform service delivery and policy will be presented including where these data were used to inform Covid-19 vaccination priorities for children.
Speaker
Professor Lorna Fraser is Professor of Epidemiology and Director of the Martin House Research Centre at the University of York. Her work focuses on the better use of routinely collected data and health services for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
