Event description
Title: Racial inequality of COVID-19

About this event

Abstract

Ethnic minority groups have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19. In this seminar, Dr Bajwah will discuss factors associated with COVID-19 transmission and mortality, including the role of socioeconomic inequality and structural racism. Dr Bajwah will present findings from four pieces of COVID-19 racial inequality work conducted in the last year. These include the CovPall survey (a cross-sectional online survey of UK palliative care services’ response to COVID-19) and a dual centre service evaluation examining the association between ethnicity, socioeconomic deprivation and receipt of hospital-based palliative care. The seminar will aim to challenge traditional concepts of equality and equity as well as providing recommendations on how we may deliver equitable care to these groups.
