CSI Workshop For Authors: How To Write Truly Authentic Crime Scenes...
Sat 13 May 2017, 10:00 – 13:00 BST
Think Forensic has launched a workshop specifically for authors. A rare opportunity to achieve true authenticity for authors writing within the crime genre – though writers of other genres will also find plenty of value at this unique event.
Walking you through real life protocol and procedure, whilst attending a re-enacted crime scene at our specialist centre, will be actual law enforcement professionals. Not only will they shed light on what happens from the moment a crime has been reported or discovered, they will also demonstrate a number of forensic techniques to capture evidence using specialist equipment – some of which, you will get to use yourself.
Attendees are welcome to ask as many questions as they like. We realise that the days are long gone when you could bend your local bobby’s ear for realistic procedural insight. The more successful crime writers wouldn’t release a book without fully checking the accuracy of their content with law enforcement professionals. This is an opportunity no author can afford to miss – book your place and take full advantage of the wealth of experience we hold.
As well as insight into crime scene investigation, our in-house writing coach and renowned editor will deliver a literary talk as part of the workshop. This will cover more generic writing issues, such as how to address the structure and content of your book, writers’ block, and publishing options in today’s digital world.
We understand that it can take quite a while to write a book….therefore, if you attend one of our author workshops, you’re welcome to send your police protocol queries, or questions relating to the writing of your book, to us after the session has ended. We’ll also send you a newsletter periodically with forensic updates, spotlights on particular procedures, and posts from our crime blog. Where else could you get this kind of support?
“I found out as much as possible about how to commit a crime, without actually breaking the law! The staff at Think Forensic were patient and extremely knowledgeable; the workshop has made a real difference to my writing. And on top of that, it was so much fun!” ~ Lesley B, Doncaster
The cost of each session is £49 per head (which includes refreshments). If you’re not a crime-writer, or avid reader of crime, our workshops could also make a fantastic gift for the budding author in your life.
