Guide number: 07982 132231; please contact me if booking has closed - there may still be room!

In the 1840s William Cubitt headed east to the Isle of Dogs. With notable achievements behind him, such as Covent Garden Market and Euston Station, he wanted something big - to create a whole community in an area of low-lying marshland.

What Cubitt created was an industrial community which would have an international reach. Yet today we think about how the docks changed the Isle of Dogs and forget the significance of Cubitt's achievement. This tour seeks to redress the balance.

Please meet me outside Jack Dash House, on the corner of Lawn House Close and Marsh Wall, and explore Cubitt Town with me! The nearest station is South Quay DLR.

We finish our tour approximately two hours later at Island Gardens, where you can enjoy one of London's most important views.
