Darrin Disley, CEO of Horizon Discovery
Darrin is a parallel business entrepreneur and has been involved in the start-up and growth of 10 business ventures. He has raised in excess of $80M of business financing and has closed business development deals totalling $300M. At Horizon, he is responsible for corporate development, business strategy and investor relations; and has overseen compound annual revenue growth of 125% in the period 2007-2013.
Darrin holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Cambridge; has been the author of 6 papers, 7 patents and 36 conference abstracts and; has been an advisor on biotech commercialisation strategies around the world. Darrin supports numerous academic, business plan competition and mentoring programs in the UK with financial and practical help. He is an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Judge Business School and Enterprise Fellow at the Institute of Biotechnology both at the University of Cambridge.
Simon Galbraith, Co-founder & CEO of Red Gate
In 1999, Simon Galbraith co-founded Red Gate Software, which makes developer and database tools. In 14 years, Simon has seen Red Gate grow from a 2-person firm run out of a spare room, to today’s 300 people outfit with hundreds of thousands of users. Red Gate develops tools for database developers and administrators and maintains community websites such as SQL Server Central and Simple talk through its Simple Talk Publishing subsidiary. Since 2007 it has featured in the Sunday Times '100 Best Companies to Work For' in the United Kingdom. Simon holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge.
Dominic Vergine , Director, Sustainable Development ARM Holdings plc
Dominic is passionate about the role ARM plays in improving global energy efficiency and he is extending the benefits of technology to the next billion people. He has focused on how technology can benefit emerging economies. Dominic is the founder of three businesses, a social enterprise and a charity. With on-going board level experience with multi-national, public sector, international agency and SME partners, Dominic has recruited and built industry-leading teams in the technology and international development sectors.
