Since 1999, CUE has had over 450 entries and has awarded over £0.5m in seed funding to more than 40 business ideas. We are extremely excited to invite you to join us for the Grand Launch of the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs (CUE). Cambridge University Entrepreneurs run one of the most successful business creation competitions in Europe. Since 1999 we have awarded over £500k in prize money to more than 40 start-ups and have seen many of them develop into successful companies. Collectively, our alumni companies have secured over £100 million pounds of investment.

- Introduction to GeoSpock and DeskGen by Dr. Darrin M. Disley, CEO at Horizon Discovery Group plc
Darrin is a scientist who has been involved in the start-up and growth of numerous business ventures. He has a track record of securing over $275 million business financing from grant, angel, corporate, venture capital and public market sources as well as closing over $400 million of product, service, licensing and M&A deals. In 2012, he was named Business Leader of the Year at the European Life Science Awards, in 2014 was named Executive of the Year by Scrip a global award recognising leadership in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and in 2015 was named UK Quoted Company Entrepreneur of the Year, Cambridge Business Person of the Year and one of the 175 Faces of Chemistry by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
- Dr. Steve Marsh, CEO at GeoSpock (Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012)
Steve Marsh is co-founder and CEO of GeoSpock. He is a Computer Scientist by training and prior to GeoSpock he was completing his PhD at the University of Cambridge where he was building custom super-computers to carry out real-time simulation of extreme-scale neural networks.
- Victor Dillard, COO and Co-founder at Desktop Genetics (Life Science Start up of the Year 2012)
A former chemical engineer keen on seeing personalized treatment realized, Victor has spent the past three years leading Desktop Genetics’ business development and CRISPR genome-editing initiatives. He has closed several partnerships with leading life science companies, placing Desktop Genetics at the forefront of CRISPR therapeutics research. Informed by his previous experience at P&G, GlaxoSmithKline, Flagship Ventures, Victor believes that software will be the key to unlocking the full potential of biotech R&D. He holds MEng, Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London and an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise from the University of Cambridge.
- Raphael Scheps, Co-founder at Converge (CUE £5K Software winner 2015)
Raphael co-founded Converge in 2014 to help industry better utilize data from the millions of sensors they already have. Converge is building the next generation of wireless sensor networks for Industry, and has recently raised a seed round from the Cambridge Angels, the Marshall group, and a number of other strategic industrial investors, as well as having gone through Entrepreneur First, the london based pre-seed investment programme. Before Converge, Raphael spent some time as an engineer at Mellanox Technologies, as well as the Weizmann institute, doing astrophysics research. He has an M.Math and BA in Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge, where he was also Vice President at Cambridge University Entrepreneurs.
