Cults ridge walk - ancient limeworks and veteran trees

Cults ridge walk - ancient limeworks and veteran trees

By Fife and Kinross Group

Overview

Learn about the natural legacy left behind from historic limeworks, its wildlife and special trees during our winter walk.

We will walk along the Cults ridge to explore the lime mining and processing history of the area, and to look at the legacy of wildlife left behind, in particular a huge variety of trees, including veteran trees and coppices. If the weather is fine there should be great views across the Howe of Fife.

Meet at the roadside parking at Cults Hill, Cupar, KY15 7TF, grid reference NO 342085, What3Words cure.refined.crisp. (Please note, the map pointer generate by Eventbrite is based on a large area postcode, please use the grid reference or What.3.Words for an accurate meeting location.)

A short part of the walk may be on narrow roads. The terrain in the woods is uneven and may be slippy so appropriate footwear essential. There may be some very short steep sections so walking poles may be advisable. Dress warmly and bring waterproof clothing. Dogs allowed but may need to be on leads. Children over 8 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. There are no toilet or cafe facilities.
