Event description

Description

This session is free for frontline workers for a health or community service in Newcastle.

Our 2.5 hour Cultural Competency Session is a face-to-face interactive learning programme with activities and open discussion, a safe space in which to ask questions and listen to real life examples about how improved cultural knowledge has been used to break down barriers and improve services.

By the end of the session you will:

  • Recognise why it is important to have an understanding of different cultures and beliefs

  • Understand key aspects of your local community cultures and wider Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities in Newcastle

  • Feel confident in applying this knowledge to your practice

  • Be able to highlight areas for improvement in your own practice and come up with new ideas for enhancing the services you deliver

Spaces are limited to 2 people per organisation/department as this is a multi agency session.

If you are booked to attend a course but are subsequently unable to attend or you are unable to attend for the entire course, you must cancel your booking on Eventbrite as soon as you become aware of this or no later than 48 hours prior so that the place will be available for someone else.
