Cultural Institute Short Film Prize
Date and time
Description
Discover ground-breaking digital creativity research through short films, shortlisted for the first ever Cultural Institute Short Film Prize at the University of Leeds.
Student filmmaking crews and leading researchers from the University of Leeds have come together to produce short films, covering the latest innovations in digital creativity and responding creatively to new research.
The films explore the power of new technologies, from capturing community memories to exploring what it is to grow older.
After the screening, there will be a chance to hear from the filmmakers themselves, and to find out more about the research projects they drew on to create the films.
Col Needham, founder of IMDb and alumnus of the University of Leeds, will be judging the competition alongside Karen Emanuel, Managing Director of Key Production.
The winning team will be announced on the day, and presented with a £1,000 prize. The event will close with refreshments and an opportunity for networking.
Digital Creativity is a major strand of the University of Leeds’ Culture research theme, facilitated by the Cultural Institute. This event is part of Leeds Digital Festival, a multi-venue, city-wide festival celebrating digital culture in all its forms, which will take place from Saturday 22nd to Saturday 29th April 2017.
The event will be taking place in the Riley Smith Hall, Leeds University Union.
