Event description

Responding to the Collapse of Culture

There is a great urgency for Christians to respond to the current state our nation. Culture has not just shifted, but it has fallen away from our Christian roots. For the first time in many generations, Christians are losing their jobs or their businesses for speaking about and manifesting their Christian faith. Orthodox Christian beliefs which, until recently, were widely held across the UK, are now regarded as minority, counter cultural, politically incorrect, bigoted, or even subversive. In some cases, Christians are viewed with suspicion and barred from employment or other opportunities because of their views.

There has been a social revolution in the last few decades which has happened at a rapid rate. The legalisation of same-sex marriage was one significant milestone. Attempts in parliament to decriminalise abortion, and encourage gender fluidity and change show how far we have come from valuing the human person as beautifully and wonderfully made in the image of God. At the same time, the Islamic connection to collapse of our culture is often overlooked.

Join us at this Symposium as we look deeper in the causes of our cultural collapse and learn how parachurch organisations and churches can and should respond to what is happening.

You will be hearing from the following speakers:

  • Andrea Minichiello Williams (Co-Founder & CEO, Christian Concern)

  • Dr Joe Boot (Founder, Ezra Institute for Contemporary Christianity)

  • Sam Solomon (Islamic Affairs Advisor, Christian Concern)

  • Rt Revd Dr Gavin Ashenden (former Chaplain to the Queen)

  • Revd Tony Jones (Senior Minister, Christchurch Durham)

  • Ade Omooba (Co-Founder & Director, Christian Concern)

A Cultural Leadership Symposium by Christian Concern

The Cultural Leadership Symposium aims to equip leaders and pastors to tackle common challenges in our current culture.

To engage in discussions on the partnership with local churches and leaders in speaking of Jesus Christ in public life.

We pray that together we can enhance and strengthen the national gospel witness of God’s people.

This two-day symposium will include lectures and theological discussion on engaging the church to respond the increasingly secular society that we live in.

We pray this will be an opportunity to network among other key Christian leaders in the UK.

Please book your place before Friday 21st December 2018.
