WHO WE ARE
Children and Families Across Borders (CFAB) is a registered charity and the UK representative of International Social Service (ISS). We work to protect vulnerable children separated from their families across international borders. We understand the complexity of international social work and provide our expertise and experience to local authorities, the courts and other public agencies to help ensure the best possible outcomes for children.
CULTURALLY INCLUSIVE PRACTICE
As the UK becomes increasingly diverse, the need to understand and respond to different cultures grows. Join the CFAB team as we consider the importance of cultural inclusivity, share practical skills and tips for more inclusive practice, and explore opportunities for collaboration with overseas social services.
IN THIS SESSION WE WILL:
1) Discuss what we mean by culturally inclusive practice, including looking at the evolving cultural landscape of the UK, common cultural misconceptions and bias and the importance of becoming a more culturally inclusive social worker.
2) Consider how family practices may differ across cultures and how this may impact our work.
3) Equip you with skills for cultrally inclusive practice including how to build trust and rapport, and ensuring cultural difference are addressed in a sensitive and respectful manner.
4) Advise you on how to work effectively with overseas social services - focusing on legal and cultural considerations and helping you to navigate the complexities of international social work.
The session will combine content delivered by members of CFAB's international social work team with individual and group tasks to help put your learning into practice.
