About this event
Curating Institutional Change
A series of three panel discussions with incredible speakers responding to provocations and with an open Q and A; discussing how the visual arts sector can become more inclusive and accessible for Disabled people.
Inside Out:Outside In - internal change
How can organisations change from gatekeeping to welcoming a wider constituency? What benefits can be gained by re-evaluating the structures and roles of an organisation and who has access to it? This event explores how active inclusive organisational change can enrich the day-to-day life within an organisation or institution.
This event will include the launch for the next cohort of Institutions and organisations to be part of the network and host a disabled curator.

The Future Curators Programme supports Deaf and Disabled curators to develop their skills and expertise through residencies within arts organisations. Through the programme we aim to change the culture of the visual arts sector so it becomes more inclusive and accessible for Disabled people.
The impact of this programme on host organisations and for the Deaf and Disabled curators involved has been significant and we now want to increase its reach by expanding the network of organisations. Since 2018 DASH has worked with partners mac – Midlands Arts Centre – in Birmingham, MIMA – Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art – and Wysing Arts Centre in Cambridge, to develop the Future Curators Programme.
Curating Institutional Change events are made possible through Artfund and Arts Council England.
The event will be BSL interpreted and captioned.
