The Bank of England's building is not quite as old as it looks. Work began in 1925, when the demolition of the old Bank of England began so that Herbert Baker’s new Bank building could be constructed in its place. The building itself is a landmark within the City of London, decorated with symbolism that proclaims its purpose.
Join us for free lunchtime tours of our current exhibition, Building the Bank, which explores the transformation of the iconic Threadneedle Street building. Tours are delivered by Jennifer Adam, curator at the Bank of England Museum.
Tours are completely free, and no booking is necessary. They will begin at 12pm and last for approximately 20 minutes. We recommend arriving 10 minutes before the tour is due to start to avoid queues as you enter the Museum.
Please note, these tours are meant to be attended by individuals, rather than school or tour groups. If you arrive as a group, you might be unable to attend due to capacity.
