About this event
Join artist Hassan Aliyu for an online tour of the Legacies of Biafra. This exhibition is currently on display at Gallery Oldham until 26 February 2022.
Legacies of Biafra commemorates the 50th anniversary of the end of the Nigeria-Biafra war, providing a timely reflection on the ongoing impact of the war. The exhibition considers how one of the first civil wars in post-independence Africa has influenced the perception of the continent internationally whilst examining the legacies of war visible in the social and political structures within Nigeria.
The exhibition features works predominantly from the artistic collective Nigeria Art Society UK (NASUK), which will be exhibited alongside archival materials on the war and a selection of short films.
Gallery Oldham have restarted delivering live curator-led talks and tours at the gallery every month but because our online talks have been very popular we've decided to continue to programme regular sessions. You can access Zoom through a laptop, tablet or smart phone, just something that has a camera and mic. You don’t need to create an account to access the session.
