About this event

Join exhibition curator Laura Moseley for a guided tour of The Sleepers. This exhibition brings together works by 12 women artists exploring rest as a site of reflection, resistance, and care. Through painting, print, and textiles — including a collaborative quilt — this exhibition considers how scenes of sleep, dreaming, and stillness have been used to express complex experiences of health, labour, and family life. Inspired by the work of Gwen Raverat, for whom the sleeping figure was a recurring subject, The Sleepers also asks who has access to rest, and under what conditions. This tour offers a deeper look at the themes, artworks, and intentions behind the exhibition, guided by the curator’s perspective.

Featuring Joke Amusan, Helen Cammock, Ann Dowker, Tracey Emin, Laura Footes, Bambou Gili, Kate Montgomery, Celia Paul, Jenny Polak & Nancy Willis, Gwen Raverat, Lucy Raverat

Please meet at the Porter's Lodge at the start time, and Laura will take you down to the exhibition.

Accessibility: Upon arrival at the College, please head for the Porters’ Lodge at the main entrance, which has vehicle access and a generous dropping-off space, located on Buckingham Road which is off Huntingdon Road. Car Parking: If you are coming by car, parking for up to 70 guests is available in our car park located on Storey’s Way, including Blue Badge spaces.
