Join co-curator Dr James Kent on an exhibition tour as he discusses first-hand the research, insights, and stories behind This is Cuba.

About this Event

James Clifford Kent is Associate Director, Humanities & Arts Research Institute and Director of Hispanic Studies in the School of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Royal Holloway, University of London. His research focuses on visual cultures and he has taught at various institutions across the UK and abroad at the Universidad de la Habana, Cuba.

His current project “¡Yo soy Fidel!”: Post-Castro Cuba and the Cult of Personality explores the presence of iconic revolutionary images in contemporary Cuban society. Drawing on fieldwork and practice-led research, the accompanying exhibition 'This is Cuba: Documentary photography after Fidel' includes images taken by world-renowned photographers such as Michael Christopher Brown and Raúl Cañibano.
