Description
Curiosity Hub: Music Makers!
Sonic Pi is a creative way for people of all ages to engage in electronic music composition through simple coding.
In this 1.5 hour workshop, you'll start by creating basic tones using beeps and synths, then learn about using samples, building up to creating your own tune!
Volunteers will be on hand to help and answer questions, but there is no 'right or wrong' way and you are encouraged to experiment, fail and try out new ideas!
We'll end each session by sharing our compositions and we will provide you with material showing you how you can download Sonic Pi for free and continue modifying your digital tunes at home!
This page is for the 9.30am-11am workshop. Please see the links below for other session times.
- Adults & Children aged 10+ may work individually or in pairs on a single laptop.
- Parents/Guardians of children aged 9 or below are asked to work with their child; please register for a Pair ticket. Please note that for insurance reasons we are unable to take any students younger than 6.
- Parents/Guardians of children aged 10+ must stay within the building if not participating in the workshop themselves.
