Are you unsure exactly what computer programming is? Do you prefer to learn things hands-on, with real-world feedback? Then come along with your daughter to a FREE workshop to find out more!
Curiosity Hub is proud to be part of Spring Forward Festival, a Brighton-based month-long celebration of the role of women in digital culture. These workshops are free to attendees due to the kind support of the Festival sponsors.
Girls aged 6+, along with their mums (or other adult female mentor), are invited to attend one of our creative technology-based workshops. We will be running four sessions throughout the day, for two different age groups of girls.
The workshops will be facilitated by Jacqueline Currie - an aerospace engineer and founder of Curiosity Hub.
Only one ticket is required for each mother/daughter pair to attend a workshop.
Wild Animals with Lego WeDo (girls aged 6-9)
10-11am OR 1.30-2.30pm
You'll work with your daughter to assemble an 'alligator' robot using Lego® Education WeDo robotics kits and then use the visual drag-and-drop programming software to 'bring it to life' by instructing it to move and make sounds!
Please note, you will not be able to take the robotics kits home; you are invited to take photos/videos before we pack up.
Explorobotics with Lego Mindstorms (girls aged 9+)
11.30am-12.30pm OR 3-4pm
You and your daugher will first complete assembly of a Lego® Education Mindstorms robot, then creatively solve problems using the visual drag-and-drop programming software to make the robot move around the room, make sounds, sense obstacles and complete a variety of challenges!
Please note, you will not be able to take the robotics kits home; you are invited to take photos/videos before we pack up.
