The Current Advances in Gambling Research (CAGR) is an international, multi-disciplinary academic conference for those interested in the study of gambling behaviour, and gambling harms. We encourage scholarly and respectful debate, and place a strong emphasis on inclusivity, and diversity.

The following points set out our key operating principles:

New Research: CAGR aims to provide a platform for researchers of all career stages to share their latest research findings. We are interested in new work, novel methodologies, and the overall advancement of knowledge in our field.

Equality and Diversity: We are committed to diversity and equality across oral presentations. Keynotes and oral presentations should encourage gender and ethnic diversity as much as possible.

Lived Experience: The input of Lived Experience is a fundamental component of the conference. There should be LE representation on any conference committee; we are committed to ensuring these voices are heard, and properly supported. Person first language is essential in all presentations.

No Industry: CAGR is not open to anyone directly affiliated with the gambling industry. Presentations are generally not accepted from researcher(s) funded directly by the gambling industry, although we appreciate there is some nuance (e.g. state monopoly funded research).

Openness and Transparency: We encourage the use of open science practices such as pre-registration and the use of pre-prints and data sharing. All presenters are required to disclose any conflicts of interest both when submitting abstracts, and when presenting data. It is specifically important for presenters to declare the funding for the research being presented.
