MICRA Ph.D student conference in association with AgeUK:

Current and future trends in European research in Ageing: 4th MICRA PH.D Conference

This conference is open to all PhD students with an interest in research within the field of ageing from any discipline (eg sociology, nursing, economics, engineering, psychology, medicine, life sciences, computer science, arts, languages etc). The conference will provide an opportunity for doctoral researchers to hear presentations on the future of research into ageing in Europe and to discuss their own work with fellow students and academics. A poster competition will also be a feature of the day.

Speakers to include:

Professor Carol Jagger (University of Newcastle)

Professor Chris Phillipson (University of Manchester)

Professor Dominique Vert(VUB Brussels, Belgium)

Dr Neil Pendleton (University of Manchester)



If you wish to participate in the post competition, you will need to bring your poster with you on the day to the registration and be available to present your poster (2 – 3 minutes) in person between 12.45pm and 2.15pm and answer questions about it (group time slot to be confirmed).


Posters must be no larger than A1 sized and must include:

  • Your name
  • The name of your institution
  • Your discipline area
  • Poster title


If you would like take part in the poster presentation, please notify us by 5.00pm on 1st May 2015, by emailing mark.kelly@manchester.ac.uk confirming:-

  • Your name
  • The name of your institution
  • Your discipline area
  • Your PhD title
  • Poster title
  • The size of your poster (i.e. A1, A2, A3) and orientation (landscape/portrait).


Submissions received after 1st May 2015 may not be accepted.
