This session will explore key aspects of safeguarding vulnerable adults in relation to alcohol and substance misuse, with a particular focus on the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). The session will also address cultural and diversity needs to ensure inclusive and trauma-informed practice, and provide an overview of the legal framework underpinning safeguarding responsibilities. Real-world examples and good practice guidance will be used to illustrate how professionals can respond effectively and sensitively to safeguarding concerns involving alcohol and substance misuse.
