This event is for current OPAL schools to observe an amazing lunchtime and network with other OPAL schools.

For schools who have not been assigned a mentor or begun their OPAL journey but wish to find out more about the OPAL Primary Programme, please sign up to the new schools event.

11:45am–12pm Arrival, meet the staff and OPAL mentor(s)

12pm1pm Observation of playtime

Come and see a platinum OPAL playtime in action – ask the children about how they manage risk and the grown-ups about the changes they have seen.

1pm–1:15pmQ&A with the Headteacher and Curricular Lead/Play coordinator

There will be an opportunity for lunch here. Please bring your own lunch.

1:15pm–2:30pm OPAL school networking

Discuss your journey with other OPAL school colleagues - share your successes, top tips and ways to overcome some of the challenges.

About Ramsgate Holy Trinity CE Primary School

Ramsgate Holy Trinity CE Primary School is a one-form entry church school in Ramsgate, Kent. They started their OPAL journey in the Autumn of 2023 and achieved their OPAL Platinum Award in the Spring of 2025.

Their play offer is outstanding, ensuring every child has a fantastic playtime every single day.

The school has a sandpit, plentiful water play, den building areas, a pond, a spiritual garden, a boat, music, dressing up, arts and crafts and so much more! The strong play team are committed to continually improving their play offer, led by a fantastic OPAL working group – and helped by their very supportive parents and local community. They are an outstanding school in every way.

There is plenty of space to park on the roads outside of the school.

We keep numbers small so sign up soon. Please let us know if you can no longer come so we can release your place to another school.

The programme was developed by Michael Follett, a former school improvement adviser and teacher who has spent the past 23 years specialising in creating this programme to support school improvement through better play.  The OPAL programme has been delivered to around 1000 schools in the UK and is rapidly expanding in Canada, SE Asia and all across Europe.
