Custom & Self Build -Strategies for effective delivery - on large and medium sized multi plot sites

As pipelines grow as a result of Custom and Self build policies, and planning applications are submitted we turn our attention to ensuring that custom and self build housing on multi plot sites deliver on their policy requirements.

Our masterclasses have considered a broad spectrum of issues in the last 12-18 months, reflecting on many vexing topics delving into the granular issues that impact the daily workings of LPA officers, enablers/developers and all those who have aspirations to bring forward custom and self build on multi plot sites.

In this masterclass we will be focusing on the issues that need to be considered from an LPA perspective, from early engagement through to implementation, looking at the key factors that we need to get right to make the journey as smooth as possible and the outcomes effective so that custom and self build homes are delivered.

We will be hearing from a self build officer who is the lynchpin and glue that holds the process together and a seasoned development management officer, who works hand in glove to facilitate CSB housing discussing their approach, the outcomes and lessons learnt. Additionally, we will hear from another self build officer who is also bringing schemes forward and working with enablers in an urban setting. Lastly, we will present an enabler/develops perspective, how they engage with the process and the issues they face.

This masterclass is focused on the local planning authority role in the development process but also importantly offers a perspective from an enabler, as we need to understand the situation holistically if we are to ensure delivery takes place in a timely and effective manner. Case studies will be used to illustrate key issues and demonstrate outcomes.

Whether you're a developer/enabler, planner, policymaker, housing advocate, or consultant, this session will provide practical insights and provide a clear understanding for all involved in delivering custom and self build.
