This session is hosted by Thread and Press CIC and is running as part of the Try Create Pocklington project and funded by Active Towns East Riding. It’s aimed at encouraging and supporting communities and residents to be more physically, mentally and socially active in Pocklington.

This is children's session for children aged 10 - 16 years* This is a children's only session, although we would allow a parent/guardian to accompany your child if you felt the circumstances required it. Session run by an experienced and qualified teacher with Enhanced DBS certificate. We are ERMOS registered.

In this session, children will learn how to customise their own clothes! Bring your own clothes or use one of our items. We show young learners how to cut, reassemble, embellish and decorate their clothing. They'll also plan their design with fashion sketches. They will learn how to:

Plan and illustrate designs
How seams, hems and darts work
How to cut and reassemble (optional)
How to embellish and decorate their clothing

This session can be tailored to just embellishment for beginners.

It is suggested that you provide your child with an item of clothing to customise. Avoid very heavy weight denim or stretch items. Please note, this is an opportunity for your child to experiment and we therefore do not recommend sending them with clothing that you/they fee very precious about. If you cannot provide an item, please let me know and I can provide a plain t-shirt to use.

Why get involved?

This is a great session for children to really develop their fashion skills. Being able to customise and change clothing is great skill for children to learn and they can be sustainable with their own clothes too!

We complete thorough risk assessments for all of our activities.
