Nell'ambito delle Giornate Europee del Patrimonio, la Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) è lieta di inaugurare la prima edizione in Italia delle sue Giornate del Patrimonio. In linea con il tema delle Giornate Europee 2025, “Patrimonio Architettonico: Finestre sul Passato, Porte sul Futuro" - il Rome War Cemetery avrà un open day di apertura straordinaria sabato 27, con visite guidate gratuite per presentare il suo storico rinnovamento incentrato sull’architettura e la sostenibilità, appena completato nel 2025.

Il Rome War Cemetery della CWGC è il luogo di sepoltura di 426 caduti del Commonwealth della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, dalla liberazione di Roma nel 1944. Scopri le sue nuove componenti architettoniche, la sua eccellenza orticola e il suo patrimonio di memoria.

Orario di apertura del cimitero: dalle 0900 alle 13:00 (ora locale).

Le visite guidate si terranno alle 10:00 e alle 12:00 (ora locale). Il punto di incontro sarà ll'ingresso principale del cimitero in Via Nicola Zabaglia. Si prega di prenotarsi online.

Novità 2025:

• 2 itinerari sensoriali attraverso macchie di vegetazione dai colori caldi e freddi, uno lungo le storiche Mura Aureliane e l'altro nel "giardino segreto" del boschetto

• 2 sentieri in ghiaia tra la Cross of Sacrifice e la Stone of Remembrance, come nel progetto originale dell'architetto Louis de Soissons

• nuova esedra di rose e alberature di olmi all'interno dei plotoni di lapidi

As part of the European Heritage Days, the CWGC is pleased to inaugurate the first edition in Italy of its Heritage Days. In line with the 2025 European Heritage Days theme - 'Architectural Heritage: Windows to the Past, Doors to the Future' - Rome War Cemetery will have a special open day on Saturday September 27th with two free guided tours to present its historical renovation focused on architecture and sustainability, just completed in 2025.

Cemetery opening hours 09:00am to 13:00pm (local time)

Guides tours will be at 10:00am and 12:00pm (local time), please meet the guide at the main entrance on Via Nicola Zabaglia. Please book a place online.

Rome War Cemetery of the CWGC is the final resting place of 426 Commonwealth fallen from the Second World War, since the liberation of Rome in 1944. Discover its new architectural features, its horticultural excellence and its legacy of remembrance.

New features 2025:

• 2 sensorial paths through scrubs of vegetation with warm and cold colours, one along the historical Aurelian Walls and the other in the "secret garden" of the grove

• 2 gravel paths between the Cross of Sacrifice and the Stone of Remembrance, as in the original design of the architect Louis de Soissons

• new exedra of roses and elm trees inside the plots of headstones

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
